Living with Crohn’s or Colitis means most health and fitness content simply doesn’t apply to you.
Gastro Warrior is a purpose-driven health and fitness startup built for exactly that gap. Its mission is to help people living with chronic gut conditions take control through personalised nutrition, adaptive training and community support.
Starting from nothing, the brief was unusual. This wasn’t a platform that just had to inform. It had to connect, reassure and grow alongside the people using it, many of whom arrive tired, sceptical and let down by generic advice that assumed a body theirs doesn’t behave like.
Every interaction, from the first page of the website to the daily experience in the app, had to feel supportive, accessible and human. That called for design, development and SEO built as one.

Design for someone’s worst day, not their best one.
Most fitness platforms are built for the motivated user: the person who opens the app because they want to, on a day when they feel fine. That assumption quietly excludes anyone managing a condition that decides for them how the day is going to go.
Gastro Warrior was built the other way round. Every screen assumes the user might be exhausted, in discomfort, or short on patience. Larger tap targets, clear contrast, no punishing streaks, no shame in adapting a plan downwards.
Accessibility here isn’t only a compliance standard. It’s the difference between a platform someone keeps using and one they quietly abandon on a bad week.
01
A brand with energy but no aggression
Fitness branding usually shouts. For an audience managing a chronic illness, volume reads as pressure, and pressure is the last thing that helps.
The identity balances resilience with care. Logo, typography and colour work together to carry strength without intimidation and empathy without softening into pity.
That balance runs through every visual decision, from app screens to marketing material, so the Gastro Warrior brand speaks to people looking for understanding and progress rather than a challenge they’re expected to win.
02
A platform that adapts to the person using it
A plan someone can’t follow on a flare day isn’t a plan. Flexibility had to be structural, not an afterthought.
The Gastro Warrior platform was built with accessibility and scalability at its core, giving people:
- Nutrition plans are personalised around their condition and goals
- Adaptive training programmes that flex to different ability levels
- Community features that connect people to others who understand the condition
Aligning the experience with genuine user empathy produced something people can track progress in, find reliable information through, and feel supported by, on good weeks and difficult ones alike.
The Agnikii Digital team brought our vision to life perfectly. From branding to app development, they exceeded every expectation. Our users love the experience, and we're already seeing the real impact it's having on people's lives.
03
A website that teaches before it sells
People researching a chronic condition arrive with questions long before they’re ready to sign up for anything.
The website works as both a marketing hub and an educational resource, carrying practical guidance, nutrition information and expert insight for people trying to make sense of their own situation. Built performance-first, it loads fast, works properly on every device, and is structured so the people searching for this information can actually find it.
Accessibility was non-negotiable throughout, with every component tested against WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, so the platform serves everyone regardless of ability. The website and app sit as one connected ecosystem: visually aligned, technically consistent, and built to grow.
Most common questions
01
What was the main challenge?
Building a brand and platform from scratch for an audience underserved by mainstream fitness content, specifically people living with Crohn's and Colitis who need nutrition, training and community support shaped around their condition.
02
How was the brand identity developed?
Around resilience and care in equal measure. The logo, typography and colour system carry energy without aggression, so the brand feels supportive rather than demanding to an audience that finds most fitness marketing alienating.
03
IS Gastro Warrior a Website or an App?
Both. It's a WordPress site with a progressive web app built on top, so it installs to a phone's home screen and opens like a native app, with no app store download needed. It also works on a poor connection, which matters for an audience who won't always have good signal when they need it.
04
How accessible is the platform?
Every component was tested against WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, from contrast through to navigation, so it works for people using assistive technology and stays usable on days when someone doesn't have much energy to give it.
05
How does the platform support future growth?
The architecture scales, so new content, features and community tools can be added as the user base grows without rebuilding or slowing the experience down.
